So yesterday was a full day. We rode upstairs on t So yesterday was a full day. We rode upstairs on the double decker bus to my old apartment from when I was a child at 75 Knightsbridge. The old front door is gone and it is now huge offices. I tried and failed to find the Macfisheries shop where my mum used to send me to get fresh fish. I took a picture of Knightsbridge station where my dad used to send me to buy the Guardian (never dreaming I would grow up and write for the guardian women’s page one day) from the newsstand (not there anymore). We took a picture outside Harrods which was the playground of my brother and me in bad weather when our parents were at work. We passed where the old Joe Lyons was on Hyde Park Corner, where my brother and I would have egg, chips and beans followed by jam sponge pudding with custard for two shillings and sixpence, never dreaming that I would grow up and sing there when it got turned into Pizza in the Park (May it rest in peace)—neither of which I could recognize. We finished with dinner with Greg and Resnais at E&O and then crashed. Now having breakfast and nursing my voice back to life: (someone explain to me loud hip hop music in restaurants!with Billy Drummond

Okay, the train is stuck in a tunnel right now, but he got through customs easy peasey and his cymbals even arrived! Then tomorrow we head back to London Jazz to play PizzaExpress Live this weekend at the Pheantry in Chelsea. So sorry he missed my other brother’s party in his honor in Leighton Buzzard but if u look closely you can see he made the family photo!

Happy new year from Terminal C! (Please, airports Happy new year from Terminal C! (Please, airports in general, work on your vegetarian options). Traffic in the actual airport was terrible and so many last calls are being announce I can only imagine how many people missed their flight! In happier news, I can’t wait for my husband to join me in London to meet my family and end the trip playing with Tessa Souter | Jim Watson | Conor Chaplin | Billy Drummond at the Pheasantry on Jan 20/21. But first stop … Edinburgh to dance and cavort with old friends. Then Devon and London for more cavorting with family. And cream teas and curry and fish and chips. See you in three weeks!
